What Jua is

Jua Markets is a prediction market: you trade on the outcomes of real events, from elections and football to currencies and music. Every market is a question with two kinds of share, Yes and No. When the result is known, each winning share pays $1 and each losing share pays nothing.

The price of a share is the crowd's forecast. If Yes trades at 64¢, the crowd puts the chance at 64%. Buy Yes at 64¢ and you make 36¢ a share if it happens; buy No at 36¢ and you make 64¢ a share if it doesn't. The most you can ever lose on a share is what you paid for it: there is no borrowing and nothing more to pay later.

Jua is Swahili for "to know", and for the sun.

Jua never holds your money

This is the most important thing to understand about Jua, and the biggest difference from a betting site or a crypto exchange:

  • There is no deposit and no withdrawal. You never pay money into Jua and never ask for it back. You bet straight from your own wallet, and your winnings are paid straight to your wallet.
  • Your money moves only when a trade you agreed to settles. On the website you sign each order in your wallet; on Telegram each trade is a transfer you confirm in your TON wallet. Nobody at Jua can take your money, freeze it or move it somewhere else.
  • Your shares are tokens in your wallet. On BNB Smart Chain they are outcome tokens of the Conditional Tokens contract; on TON they are jettons you can see in your wallet app. The money behind every pair of shares sits in a public contract that nobody at Jua can touch.
  • Winners collect their own winnings. When a market is settled, you press Collect winnings and the contract pays your wallet. Jua cannot collect for you, and nobody else can take what is yours.

What Jua does run is the order book (it matches buyers with sellers), the results (staff propose an outcome from each market's written rules, and traders can dispute it) and the operator that sends each matched trade to the blockchain to settle. Read Safety: what you sign for what that means in practice.

The two kinds of money

Depending on how a deployment is set up, Jua runs on real money or on play money:

  • Real money: USDT, a digital dollar. One USDT counts as $1. The website uses USDT on BNB Smart Chain; the Telegram Mini App uses USDT on TON.
  • Play money: free credits that work exactly like money inside Jua but cannot be bought, withdrawn or cashed out. New accounts start with $1,000 in credits and can claim a top-up when they run low.
  • Demo: once you are signed in you can switch between Live and Demo at the top of the site. Demo gives you virtual money on the real markets at their live prices, to practise with.

See Play money and Demo.

Your first trade in four steps

  1. Pick a question. Browse the markets by category or by country (the country markets after the categories list every event about that country), or search for an election, a match or a price you have a view on.
  2. Choose Yes or No. The price on each button is what one share costs, and the chance the crowd gives that answer.
  3. Enter an amount. Type how much to spend. You see how many shares you get and what you are paid if you are right, then review and confirm. The first time, your wallet asks you to allow the exchange to use your USDT; after that you only sign.
  4. Get paid if you are right. When the result is final, every winning share pays $1. You can also sell before then, at the best price someone is offering.

The whole thing takes two minutes: watch the video walkthrough, then read Signing in.

Fees

Every buy pays a platform fee, 5% of what you pay by default, capped at half of what the bet can win so a buy near certainty stays worthwhile. There is no fee on sells, settlements, cancelled orders or collecting winnings. Every fee is shown, fee and total, before you confirm. The network charges its own small fees in its own coin (BNB on BNB Smart Chain, TON on TON) for the one-time approval and for collecting winnings: a few cents each. Details in Buying and selling.
